Butler County 4-H'er Wins State 4-H Beekeeping Essay Contest

A Butler County 4-H member's entry has been selected as the Nebraska winner of the 2008 4-H beekeeping essay contest. Brian Glock, 16 year-old son of Tracy and Linda Glock of Rising City, is thought to the first Butler County 4-H member to win this contest. Topic for the 2008 contest was 'The results of honey bee pollination in my community'. National winners for the 2008 contest were from Texas, Kentucky and Connecticut.

Brian received a book on beekeeping as a prize for being Nebraska's winner from the Board of Trustees of the sponsoring organization (Foundation for the Preservation of Honey Bees, Inc.). Theme for the 2009 National 4-H Beekeeping Essay contest is "The Dance Language of Bees".
