Welcome to the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension in Cheyenne, Kimball & Banner Counties. Our office brings you reliable, research-based information in agriculture and natural resources, consumer and family economics, community and economic development and 4-H / youth development. Course Offered to Help Women Become Better Business Partners in Farm/Ranch Operations

Would you like to know more about how to be a better partner in a farm/ranch operation? If so, enrolling in Annie’s Project - Women Managing Farm Information Course will help you do just that. The first class will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney, NE from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Successive classes will be on Oct. 27; Nov 3, 10, 17 & 24. Registration fee of $60 includes all class materials and refreshments.

Topics will include combining family and farm goals; building family farm relationships; determining options for holding and transferring property; assessing farm lease agreements, marketing practices and farm program alternatives and learning to implement a good risk management and record keeping plan. Participants will have the opportunity to take an on-line course related to agriculture at no additional cost.

The course is offered by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Extension in partnership with Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service, North Central Risk Management Education Center and other land grant universities. Local extension educators Karen DeBoer and Carla Mahar will coordinate and teach the classes along with guest speakers who will share expertise on chosen topics.

2008 Panhandle No-Till Partnership Winter Conference

The 2008 Panhandle No-Till Partnership Winter Conference, scheduled to be held November 18-19, 2008 will be a two-day, Panhandle-wide conference that will bring the latest information and best practices to local and region-wide producers regarding the benefits and opportunties long term no-till commitments can bring.  Check out the link to the 2008 Panhandle No-Till Conference to learn more!
